A warm welcome back from the Easter break. Sand, sundowners and sun kissed scenes encouraged a warm reflective glow of the previous term and plenty of forward thinking.

News from the Sports Master
Welcome back to the Cricket term. Cricket training has now started for all year groups and fixtures for Years 5&6 start next week. As always you can check the cricket fixtures through the school website and your sons will be bringing home a fixture card this week.

In a change to the fixture card the U10A,B,C,D1,D2 will all be playing at home on Friday 3rd May.

As the fine weather is returning please can we ensure that all Games bags are packed with a cap, sun tan cream and a water bottle.Cricket bags will be stored in the Sports Hall changing rooms and can be dropped off there at the start of the day. I would also ask wherever possible that Games and Cricket bags are taken home at the end of each day. This allows our cleaners to do a better job of cleaning the changing rooms.

Athletics practices also start next week. There will be after school athletics on a Thursday. In addition to this the Sports Department will be running lunchtime practices for Year 4,5&6. The lunchtime practice schedule will be as follows-
  • Monday - 600m & Long Jump
  • Tuesday - Cricket Ball Throw & Sprints
  • Thursday - Shot Put, High Jump & Long Jump
  • Friday - Sprints & Relay
Initially the lunchtime practices will be open for anyone who would like to try and represent the school this year. As the athletics competitions draw nearer these sessions will be for the selected athletics squad.

I would also like to wish our U11A&B 5 a-side teams all the best as they travel to  the ISA National Championships next Friday 3 May.

News from the Chess Master
It has been a very exciting few weeks on the chess front, despite us not being at school!
Very well done to all those boys who have been playing chess over the Easter break.

The Maidenhead Junior Chess Congress took place on Friday 12 April in the CCJB sports' hall.
Players came from all over the South in order to compete and the field was very strong.
Representing Claires Court were Josh Sharma, Moksha Suriarachchi, Kanishka Suriarachchi, Tom Avezbakiev, Anthony Chan, Luc Azzari Wynn-Jones and former pupil William McMath.

Delancey Megafinals are still being held in this area. If your son has qualified you can find these tournaments online through the website.

And finally - CONGRATULATIONS to Josh Sharma who has received a call up to play in Liverpool this weekend at the U11 England trials. This is an excellent achievement and our best wishes go with him!
