WELCOME BACK, YEAR 12!
It has been quiet around the Sixth Form for the past few weeks, with just a few Year 12s in school. We are really looking forward to all Year 12 returning to school. Subject teachers are excited to be starting this new phase of study with them as they begin their Year 13 studies, and we know that the students will come back to school enthused. Please can we ask you to check that students remember their lanyards and to dress appropriately for school.

MAIDENHEAD ROTARY CLUB – YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHER COMPETITION
Year 12 photographer, Lily Palmer-Moore, came first in both the local and in the district Rotary competitions with her selection of photographs entitled “Reflections”. Congratulations go to Lily and one of her photographs can be seen at the top of this bulletin.

HIGHER EDUCATION & ALTERNATIVES – TUESDAY 13 JUNE
We are looking forward to seeing Year 12 parents on Tuesday 13 June at the Higher Education Evening. There will be two presentations on the evening, one beginning at 6pm which will be the Alternatives to Higher Education, and the second one at 7pm which will be the introduction to Higher Education. Please can you let us know which session you will attend, or if you would like to attend both sessions. Please email kyh@clairescourt.net.

STUDENT SUPPORT
It has been a time when as a school we have reflected upon and reacted to the terrorist attacks that the country has been subjected to in Manchester and London. We have joined with millions across the country in observing a minute silence to remember those that have died or have been seriously injured. To support those very public demonstrations of remembrance, we will take time, once Sixth Form studies resume, to  reassure and discuss with students, using the advice given by the NSPCC  and the PSHE Association to guide us in how to manage those discussions.

 BROADMOOR TALK
Liv MacGregor and Oli Carr in Year 12 recently attended a presentation at Broadmoor hospital on careers in psychology. Dr Alex Lord, Principal Forensic Psychologist, spoke to the audience and the girls found it an invaluable insight into psychology and what they could expect from a career in the subject. It has helped them to decide what they would like to do in the future.

LESSONS FROM AUSCHWITZ
Congratulations go to Camilla Slais and Sally Price who have successfully completed their work on their Auschwitz project and have received their final ASDAN accreditation certificates of completion and are now officialliy 'Holocasust ambassadors'. They undertook assemblies at school, informing younger students on what they had learned and were complimented by the Holocaust Educational Trust for all their hard work and commitment to the project.

HEALTHY EATING WEEK
Next week the school we will be taking part in national Healthy Eating week along with over 4 million other young people across the country.
Each site have their own classroom activities planned whilst the dining rooms will be giving away healthy alternatives to eat or drink and there may be some yucky colours involved!
The exciting event kicks off with the catering department throwing down the gauntlet to all our pupils who visit our dining rooms to see who can eat the healthiest, as the dining experience is about choice. Points are ‘till’ allocated through purchases but be careful as one wrong item could wipe out the score but pupils won’t know until the end! The healthiest eater on each site will receive not only a certificate but a “healthy” prize.
So please encourage your child to try, taste, get involved and enjoy
