Claires Court Jubilee Tree Canopy Unveiled
We are delighted to have launched our new initiative to celebrate both our School Diamond Jubilee and HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year.  Remember the deadline for purchasing a legacy tree, with your family name on it, is Monday 18 October and we have almost reached our one hundred tree capacity.  Please take a look at how you can get involved in this exciting project in our news story here.

Menus & Dining
After half term we will be moving to a two weekly cycle for menus due to the supply chain issues we are experiencing. Please also be aware that the menus may need to change without notice due to these issues. Thank you for your understanding.

ALL YEAR GROUPS

Happy Half Term to all!
Grade Cards will be emailed home during half term, and will also be available on the Report Portal. Please ensure your son continues Lateral Flow Testing twice weekly throughout the half term, reporting results via the GOV.UK website, and prior to his return to school on Monday 1 November. Thank you.

Flu Immunisations & Covid-19 Vaccinations
For those that missed the deadline to consent for Flu and/or Covid-19, please see the process to follow now from NHS Berkshire School-aged Immunisations Team:

Any parents wishing to consent for the flu will need to wait until 24 hours after the session when the school consents will be reopened. They will then need to complete a form using the original information sent from the school (electronic consent form school code BK110153B) and wait for the link to be emailed to them to book into one of our catch up clinics.

Any parents that have missed the deadline to consent for Covid will need to wait until further national guidance is released as we currently do not have any planned catch up clinics for the Covid vaccination.

The Big Ask…and The Big Answer
Earlier this year, The Children’s Commissioner asked all children in England to complete a survey, to show the true voice of this generation. The results are in and The Children’s Commissioner would like to say thank you. Over half a million children responded, the largest survey of its kind in history, and at a landmark moment for young people growing up in this country.

Children were united – they told us they want to get back to school, to get on, and do well. To have fulfilling lives. Children cared deeply about their family, their communities, their wellbeing and are an ambitious, excited generation. They want to make a contribution to a better world, a greener world, rooted in fairness of opportunity for everyone. Please read more here.

After half term, all boys participating in the CCF programme are permitted to come to school wearing their CCF uniform.

Sailing Results
Claires Court took two teams to the Eric Twiname Team Racing Championships at Oxford last weekend. With 47 teams, it's Britain's largest team racing event for young sailors. Despite a dead-calm first day with no races, more than 230 races were run on Sunday.

Team racing rookies, Team Green (Sam B & Ollie P, Jude A and Georgie H / Tori J) were taught some harsh lessons by the much more experienced teams, and though they sailed strong, were robbed at the finishing line on more than one occasion and finished in 16th position overall.

Team Red (Sam W & Jonny P, Elicia M & Ollie L, Jonathan R & Alistair J) performed fantastically well throughout the event, losing out on just two races (and they were very close). Sadly they found themselves in a complicated multi-way tie-break situation which, when finally broken, left them in 8th place. One single extra point earned in any of the races they'd sailed would have seen them in the final four and the playoffs with an optimistic shot for a podium finish.

Despite this, they should be applauded for an outstanding achievement all round.
An honourable mention must go to Haydn S who volunteered to lend a hand when another team lost crew last week due to illness. Despite sailing a boat he'd never been in with a team he didn't know, he gave it his all for them knowing that that's just what sailors do.
