A message from the Executive Head
Dear Parents and Guardians

Thank you for your support and feedback over the past six weeks. It has been a busy and successful half term which has seen the re-introduction of many of the pleasures that we took for granted before Covid. For example, watching your children enjoy their sports fixtures, a comprehensive after school enrichment programme, school excursions - just a few of the ‘return to norm’ activities that enhance our educational support for your children.
Come Monday 21 June, we hope to see even more restrictions eased, for then we can invite you to join us in larger numbers at school for end of year celebrations. However, please ensure that your children if in Year 7 or above continue to take the Lateral Flow test over the half term break - 1 in 3 people with Covid have no symptoms, so it is crucial that we continue with this programme.

For our Year 11 and 13 pupils who have worked so hard under the new Covid affected regulations, they can reflect on their considerable efforts with pride, and most will be returning after a short break in June to take up their places on our Leadership and Playworker courses.

Whether you are venturing away for half term or staying at home, I hope you all enjoy a break that allows you to catch up on conversations with your children, rest and recuperate even if only for a short time, and spend precious moments with family and loved ones.

Best wishes
Justin Spanswick
Executive Head Teacher

Catering Provision after half term
In line with current Covid guidelines, we are pleased to announce the return of catering services and dining rooms from Monday 7 June. Please find the new menus on the website. The following services will commence:
  • Breakfast at College Avenue and Senior Boys. Pre-school care at Junior Boys and College Avenue are already benefiting from a breakfast service.
  • Morning breaks at College Avenue And Senior Boys.  Due to time constraints and the risk of mixing of bubbles, we request that both Junior Girls and Junior Boys bring in an appropriate nut free snack for break time, as it will not be possible to get everyone through the dining room in a timely manner for this break time service.
  • Lunch at all sites with virtually all choices of main meal, vegetarian/dietary options, salads, sandwiches, pasta, jacket potatoes, desserts and drinks.
Whilst our suppliers get used to the demands of hospitality reopening once again, we will endeavour to return favourites and new choices as soon as we can get them.

Finally, on a green note, after the introduction of water bottle filling fountains in 2019 we have saved in excess of 40,000 plastic bottles over the past year. Please be reminded, whilst cooler than usual at the moment, the weather is warming up, so do please send your child in with an appropriately named and refillable water bottle to keep their hydration levels up.

#Stay Connected 3.0
#Stay Connected 3.0 will be available to you from today.
Students and parents should always check this - it is a one stop shop for all the latest information on unis/apprenticeships/jobs. This week’s edition has information on virtual work experience, apprenticeships, virtual open days and webinars, and information on a junior nanny course. Our features pages include sections on 2021 Billboards awards and The Weeknd's favourite food! This is shared with students every Friday morning - if they miss reading this, they could miss out on lots of vital information.

UCAS reply to offers
Just a gentle reminder to all students who have not replied to UCAS offers so far. Your deadline to reply is 10 June. If you do not reply by this date, UCAS will assume you do not wish to respond and will decline all your choices for you.

Year 13 U101 sessions
After a longer half term break, the Year 13s who have opted into the U101 sessions will return from Monday 7 July for the two week programme. They each have their own timetable of sessions so they know which days to be in school. Subject teachers are looking forward to helping students with more in depth study for their university courses, for helping them prepare for university and for helping them with life skills such as budgeting and staying healthy. The creative teachers and Mrs Rogers have some great ideas for the legacy projects for the students to be involved with too. It promises to be a productive and fun two weeks.

Year 13 Farewell - Thursday 1 July
The Year 13 farewell will take place on Thursday 1 July, now moved to the Sixth Form Centre, and will run from 9.30am to 12noon. The theme for fancy dress is a “Sporting” theme and we will finish with a BBQ lunch at 11.30am. There will be fun, laughter, lots of reminiscing and no doubt a few tears, as we remember the last two years with Year 13.

Sparling Afternoon Tea - Friday 2 July 4pm-6pm
Sparkling afternoon tea for Year 13 on Friday 2 July will be at the Crowne Plaza in Marlow. The dress code is smart and please do not have a big lunch because the tea there is HUGE and wonderful! It will be our final opportunity to say goodbye.

If any students would still like to come to the Year 13 Farewell on 1 July or the afternoon tea on 2 July please can they email kyh@clairescourt.net as soon as possible and before Monday 7 June.

Tuesday 10 August - A Level & BTEC results day
This is a reminder that results day for Sixth Form will be Tuesday 10 August. Your results will be emailed to your school email account during the course of the morning. From around 8.30am on the day, UCAS will have updated your status to show which university has accepted you, or whether you are unplaced. Mrs Rogers, Mr Hope and Mrs Hall will be in school on the day for you to call or email for advice and guidance and also to celebrate with you.
