A message from the Executive Head
Dear Parents and Guardians

While we wait patiently for the cessation of restrictions on May 17, school is very much in flow and the introduction of sports fixtures last week was warmly welcomed… even though our first competitive match for nearly 14 months ended with rain stopping play after 8 overs!

Please can I relay this important message - if your child is feeling unwell in the morning before going to school, please do not send them in if they have a temperature, or any of the other array of symptoms that Covid-19 can be associated with. We are working very hard to protect our community from the spread of this dreadful virus, and while numbers in the area are low, we have had a case of Covid-19 in the school this week. Thankfully, our safety measures have ensured that only one other person has had to isolate, but it does remind us that the use of Lateral Flow Tests for our staff and senior pupils, as well as all other control measures, are vitally important.

On a lighter note, it has been wonderful to hear the sound of musical instruments being played at school. Our Peripatetic music teachers have been delighted to return to school. I’ve heard the sound of trumpets, guitars, drums… and even the odd voice too!

Have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes
Justin Spanswick
Executive Head Teacher

Holiday Club
We are delighted to announce that we will be running our holiday club for the 4 days of May half term, from 1 to 4 June. This will only be open to children who currently attend Claires Court and their siblings, plus Claires Court Staff children. Please note that siblings may only attend if their brother or sister is in attendance too. This holiday club is open to Nursery children through to Year 6 inclusive.

Location and timings
  • The club will be held at our College Avenue site. Separately, Sport Xtra will be running a cricket activity for all four days, open to girls and boys, at our Junior Boys site for Years 3 - 6
  • Camp will run from 9am until approximately 4pm
  • Bookings can only be made per week, not per day to maintain the integrity of the ‘bubbles’
Bubble arrangements
  • Children will be in ‘bubbles’ up to 15 in a group. Siblings may not be in the same bubble depending on their age
  • Children will not be able to move between bubbles
Programme of activity and cost
  • Our programme of activities and games will involve no screens at all. We will be outside as much as possible (weather dependent)
  • Children will need to please bring their own packed lunch, snacks and named water bottle. There will not be any food available on the day
  • The costs is £160 for the four days - no single days are available
If you haven’t used us before you will need to register in order to be able to book. You can find the link here https://clairescourt.childcare-online-booking.co.uk/

If you have any problems, please contact us by email holidayclub@clairescourt.com or phone 01628 327740.
We are very much hoping that for the summer we will be able to expand our programme with more Sport, Xtra activities and weekly visitors returning.

We look forward to seeing your children soon!

The Big Ask - Deadline for completion 19 May
The deadline for taking part in ‘The Big Ask’ is Wednesday 19 May. The adult survey is temporarily suspended due to technical issues, but please do encourage your daughter to share her views in the pupil survey. The new Children’s Commissioner for England, Dame Rachel de Souza, aims to find out children’s concerns and aspirations about the future to identify barriers preventing children reaching their potential, put forward solutions and set ambitious goals for the country to achieve.
