| From the Office | A message from the Executive Head
Dear Parents and Guardians
While we wait patiently for the cessation of restrictions on May 17, school is very much in flow and the introduction of sports fixtures last week was warmly welcomed… even though our first competitive match for nearly 14 months ended with rain stopping play after 8 overs!
Please can I relay this important message - if your child is feeling unwell in the morning before going to school, please do not send them in if they have a temperature or any of the other array of symptoms that Covid-19 can be associated with. We are working very hard to protect our community from the spread of this dreadful virus, and while numbers in the area are low, we have had a case of Covid-19 in the school this week. Thankfully, our safety measures have ensured that only one other person has had to isolate, but it does remind us that the use of Lateral Flow Tests for our staff and senior pupils, as well as all other control measures, are vitally important.
On a lighter note, it has been wonderful to hear the sound of musical instruments being played at school. Our Peripatetic music teachers have been delighted to return to school. I’ve heard the sound of trumpets, guitars, drums… and even the odd voice too!
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes
Justin Spanswick
Executive Head Teacher
Holiday Club
We are delighted to announce that we will be running our holiday club for the 4 days of May half term, from 1 to 4 June. This will only be open to children who currently attend Claires Court and their siblings, plus Claires Court Staff children. Please note that siblings may only attend if their brother or sister is in attendance too. This holiday club is open to Nursery children through to Year 6 inclusive.
Location and timings
- The club will be held at our College Avenue site. Separately, Sport Xtra will be running a cricket activity for all four days, open to girls and boys. Our bookings can only be made per week, not per day to maintain the integrity of the ‘bubbles’
Bubble arrangements
- Children will be in ‘bubbles’ up to 15 in a group. Siblings may not be in the same bubble depending on their age
- Children will not be able to move between bubbles
Programme of activity and cost
- Our programme of activities and games will involve no screens at all. We will be outside as much as possible (weather dependent)
- Children will need to please bring their own packed lunch, snacks and named water bottle. There will not be any food available on the day
- The costs is £160 for the four days - no single days are available
If you haven’t used us before, you will need to register in order to be able to book. You can find the link here https://clairescourt.childcare-online-booking.co.uk/
If you have any problems, please contact us by email holidayclub@clairescourt.com or phone 01628 327740.
We are very much hoping that for the summer we will be able to expand our programme with more Sport, Xtra activities and weekly visitors returning.
We look forward to seeing your children soon!
Nursery Visits to Junior Boys “The Great Outdoors”
Please find the letter here that was emailed home earlier this week. The three nursery classes will spend their morning enjoying the grounds at Junior Boys doing various activities. The days allocated for each class are:
Honeycomb Tuesday 18 May
Beehive Wednesday 19 May
Busy Bees Tuesday 25 May
Reminders
- Please bolt the gate shut when you are using the nursery gate
- We would prefer it if children do not wear sandals or Crocs during the Summer term. We do a lot of running and climbing and these types of shoes can be a trip hazard
- If your child is leaving Claires Court at the end of the Summer term please give notice by the May half term
No Nuts Please
Just a gentle reminder that the school operates a ‘no nut policy’ (including nut related products) in your child's packed lunch/snack box. We do have a number of pupils and staff who are allergic to nuts. Thank you.
