A message from the Executive Head
Dear Parents and Guardians

Here comes the sun!

Welcome to the Summer Term - a term which we hope will be as enjoyable as it is safe. The staff are literally buzzing with excitement at the thought of some normality in the school day which is emerging slowly but securely into our lives.

Over the next few weeks I hope to share with you the schools plans for the term. This includes items that we would consider as our 'usual routine' - sports days, galas, plays and performances, trips and sports fixtures, after school activities and a full enrichment programme, and of course, the core of our work which is teaching and learning. Several months ago this seemed a distant dream - we have every hope that it will become a reality.

This week, the Heads have decided to share their introduction to the term in person - I hope you enjoy the videos!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Best wishes
Justin Spanswick
Executive Head Teacher

Summer Term Catering Offer
Thank you to everyone who responded to the recent Catering Provision Survey and for your most valuable comments.

Naturally, as further restrictions are lifted, our aim is to increase what we are able to offer as soon as safely possible. But a common theme that emerged was a wish for a cold lunchtime option and our catering teams believe they can now provide this. Therefore, from Monday 26 April we will offer a boxed salad and a yoghurt or fruit option. Please see our website and menus at All sites Summer Menus.

In order not to delay the widening of our lunchtime offer, there is no need to reorder your child’s meal options for next week (ie w/c 26 April) as we will provide a quantity of salads and yoghurts with every year groups’ hot food. Your child will be able to make the choice of a hot or cold meal at the point of delivery and choose a piece of fruit or a yoghurt at the same time. We will also have an offering for our Nursery and Junior pupils.

However, if your child wants a salad rather than the hot food, please help us by rebooking your child’s meal options for the following week (ie w/c 3 May) onwards and to do this no later than 4pm on Thursday 29 April. There is no need to rebook if you have no changes. You will also be able to alternate your child’s meal choices, for example, have a salad on one day, hot meal the next and/or vegetarian. Again this flexibility was requested by many. Please note that you should still book all five days as the weekly charging arrangement will continue.

Whilst still not the ideal, we hope by half term we should see some further relaxation of the Covid restrictions as promised by the Prime Minister which will enable us to reopen our dining rooms fully.

Ski Trip
Current Year 4- Year 12. We have had a fantastic response to our ski trip for Easter 2022. We are trying to obtain more places from our ski company and are confident we should be able to do so. If you have not already paid your deposit for either skiing or snowboarding and would like to go on the trip please can you pay the deposit by Sunday 25 April at the latest. We will be in touch with everyone shortly to confirm whether you were successful in obtaining a place.

Welcome Back
It has been wonderful to welcome the Sixth Form back to school after the Easter break. This term Year 12 will begin their UCAS preparation. They should all now have registered on the UCAS “Hub” and should have attended the UCAS Virtual Discovery Day on Tuesday. Year 13 should now be thinking about replying to their UCAS offers, confirming their Firm and Insurance choices and researching and applying for student accommodation. All students who are going to university should have applied for their Student Finance by the deadline of Friday 21 May, whether they have confirmed their university choices or not. Please do contact the Sixth Form team if you have any questions.

Sixth Form Enrichment Activities

From Monday 26 April buses will leave school from 5pm which has allowed us more time to offer Enrichment activities. The sessions which were available before Easter are still running, however times may have changed. Additional sessions now available are Maths support for Maths students and Psychology Club.

The Big Ask - Adult Views
The new Children’s Commissioner for England, Dame Rachel de Souza, has launched The Big Ask – the largest ever consultation with children aged 4 to 17 in England. It aims to find out children’s concerns and aspirations about the future, so that we can put children at the heart of our country’s recovery from the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Adults are also able to add their views and can do via this link.

The results from this survey will help the Children’s Commissioner identify the barriers preventing children from reaching their potential, put forward solutions and set ambitious goals for the country to achieve.
