| | From the Office | A message from the Executive Head
Dear Parents and Guardians
A bit of sunshine, the return of some routines, challenge and nurture in equal balance, there has even been talk of sports fixtures for our boys and girls after Easter. School is back!
While we are celebrating the return of children to school, we are also being very mindful of the significant impact Covid-19 has had on our families, and while ‘the norm’ looks not too far away, we are being careful to ensure that our community is supported whenever help is needed. Please contact the school should you have any questions regarding how our pastoral system is adapting to look after your children with the utmost care, or should you have any queries about our Safety Control Measures.
I hope you enjoy the musings from our Headteachers, and I wish you a fabulous weekend.
Best wishes
Justin Spanswick
Executive Head Teacher
Lateral Flow Home Testing
Please note the guidance on page 15 of the latest instruction booklet (January 2021 version 1.3.2) that you must report your child’s Covid-19 home test result to the NHS within 24 hours, whether positive, negative or void, via www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result. Please report positive results only to the school. Thank you.
Comic Relief - Friday 19 March
Lots of red could be seen around the Sixth Form Centre today and students were keen to support Red Nose Day and Brufut. Generous donations meant that we collected £170 on the day, with additional contributions coming in on Monday and also on line for Brufut on the parent portal via the “Brufut Challenge”. The parent portal is still open should you wish to make a contribution.
We are hoping to raise enough money to sponsor Alasana who is 6 years old. He has two older brothers and one older sister. His father is a driver, his mother is a housewife. They live in a family compound in Ghana Town, Brufut. They have no access to electricity or water. Sponsorship will help him to be able to continue with schooling, to have regular school lunch and all the necessary school supplies.
Lunchtime Enrichment Activities
The Sixth Form Enrichment activities began in earnest this week with all the clubs reporting great turnouts. The Debating club was especially popular and attracted much discussion. New students are still welcome to attend the sessions.
Staying Connected #2.2
#Stay Connected 2.2 was distributed today, with the help of several sub-editors who helped to create and check the new magazine. It is a one stop shop for all information regarding information on unis/apprenticeships/jobs and this week it also included some valuable tips about university. The weekly update from our Make A Difference team gave us information about recycling and the Recycled Art competition that they are running. Do take a look.
Y12 Parents’ Evenings - Tuesday 23 March and Wednesday 24 March
Remote Parents’ Evenings will continue next week with Year 12 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Students have arranged calls or google meets with their teachers. The google meet codes for these meetings will be shared with all parents on Monday 22 March. Mr Hope is available for calls with parents on Tuesday 23 March. Please contact kyh@clairescourt.net to arrange a call.
Google apprenticeships
Google have announced that applications are open for UK apprenticeships! Apprentices become an integral part of their team while at Google, and also gain Level 3 or 4 apprenticeship qualifications over the course of their work and study. The three programs on offer are:
Digital Marketing Level 3 Apprenticeship
You will join a Sales or Marketing team at Google, and help define, design, and implement campaigns across a variety of platforms, gaining exposure to different Google products, and leveraging the power of Google data to help companies to solve their business challenges
Infrastructure Technology Level 3 Apprenticeship

You’ll have the chance to pick up new skills, from troubleshooting across multiple platforms, data gathering and analysis, remote infrastructure, IT security and more, while learning how to apply your knowledge to solve real life problems.
Software Development Level 4 Apprenticeship
This program aims to provide the skills you need to become a software development professional. You’ll work alongside teams of Googlers, solving real problems and gaining exposure to different roles across the company, including coding, development, testing and project management.
