| From the office | A message from the Executive Head
Dear Parents and Guardians
It has been wonderful to have the schools full of children again. Even a sense of normality has been felt in amongst the many safety control measures that have been put in place. Thank you all for your support of the school in preparing your children for their return.
On returning on Monday, we have enjoyed many of life’s simple pleasures - socialising, chatting to friends, working, playing, a bit of sport and music...it has been great!
Bearing this in mind, it is unfortunate that we are unable to run an Easter Holiday camp this year. While we are allowed to organise the framework of an activity camp for specific groups of children, we do not yet have permissions to organise activities for all children. We are aware there could be an easing of current restrictions at the end of this month, nevertheless, the lack of clarity on this does not provide the school with enough time or confidence to support an Easter Holiday provision.
Naturally, we are disappointed with this situation as we have proven in the previous holiday camps that we are able to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your child in separate bubbles while they have a wonderful time with many of their school friends. However, we will always follow the strict guidance from the Department for Education, and hopefully a ‘circuit break’ at Easter will ensure that we can enjoy as full a school summer term programme as possible.
Some great times are ahead however - we have started organising trips for later in the year, fixtures, events...it is really exciting and more information will emerge over the next few weeks. In the meantime, I will leave you to the words of your child’s Headteacher - have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
Justin Spanswick
Executive Head Teacher
Afterschool Sports Clubs
Next week beginning 15 March, after school sports clubs will be taking place throughout the week. If your son is attending they can come into school wearing their PE Kit that day.
Outer Coat / Sports Kit
We have noticed that some boys have been arriving at school without adequate outer clothing. They need a warm waterproof coat. Boys do still play outside at break-times even if there is drizzle in the air so it is important that they are dressed appropriately.
Also, some children are becoming increasingly cold during their outdoor sports lessons. Please ensure that your son wears some form of thermal clothing, base layer or long-sleeved t-shirt under his sports kit to give him protection against the cold weather.
Red Nose Day - Friday 19 March
Please help us to support this by sending your son into school wearing mufti (to include something red) for a £2 donation to the class teacher - thank you.
Reporting your son’s absence from school
Please don’t forget to call the school office to report any sickness/absence/medical appointments on 01628 327400 or alternatively you can email juniorboys@clairescourt.com

Rabbit Awards
Awarded for kindness, helpfulness and compassion doing the right thing without being asked, it is what makes our school a wonderful environment. This week our rabbits have been awarded to Oliver Johnson (5M), Taimoor-Ali Baig (5M) and Jack Hinchy (6O).
From the Chess Master
Congratulations to Raefe Kemmis (3G) for solving last week’s UK Chess Challenge Prize Puzzle. Though he was not drawn for the prize, he was mentioned in their email out to schools and clubs and earned a Merit from Mr Hogg. Well Done!
Puzzles are put up every week, so go to the CCCC and have a look! |
