From the office | A message from the Executive Head
Dear Parents and Guardians
It has been wonderful to have the schools full of children again. A sense of normality has been felt even amongst the many safety control measures that have been put in place. Thank you all for your support of the school in preparing your children for their return.
Knowing that Mrs Rogers has much to say in her words, I will be very brief!
In short, your children have been fantastic in carrying out the Lateral Flow Tests this week, and our nurses along with their support staff have been very impressed, as well as very grateful for their mature attitude. Please take time to read my separate note which was sent earlier today giving directions on how to use the Testing Home kits that your sons and daughters will be bringing home. By continuing with this testing regime, we will ensure that both the school and home environments are as safe as they can be.
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes
Justin Spanswick
Executive Headteacher
Comic Relief - Friday 19 March
Sixth Form students are invited to support Red Nose Day by wearing ‘red mufti’ on Friday 19 March for a donation of £2, to be handed in as they register. Or a donation may be made on the parent portal via the “Brufut Challenge”.
Lunchtime Enrichment Activities
The Sixth Form students have been choosing their enrichment activities this week so they can get involved in different lunchtime clubs. We have many diverse offerings for enrichment activities.
- Monday’s club is an “open art studio”.
- Tuesday students can take part in debating, or help put together the #SC magazine.
- Wednesday Claires Court Business Academy meets, as does the club for textural & source analysis which helps students to develop critical analysis skills.
- Thursday is courtroom practice and Maths skills for A level skills students.
- Friday is when the Make a Difference team meet.
Students should sign up for at least one activity. These sessions give the students an invaluable opportunity to learn skills to add to their personal statements and CVs, especially at this time when actual work experience is still very limited. Do check with your son or daughter which activities they have chosen. The link to the form to choose the activities has been sent to all Sixth Form.
Public Exam Briefing for Parents - Tuesday 2 March 10am
Please find the presentation and correct live recording from the Exam Briefing MEET on 2 March.
Student Finance
Following on from the UCAS and Student Finance presentation last week and the information we sent to Parents, last night’s episode (Thursday 11 March) of the Martin Lewis show on ITV included a very helpful segment on Student Finance. You can view it on catch up TV or on the hub here.
Staying Connected #2.1
#Stay Connected 2.1 was distributed today. The new slimline edition carries information on unis/apprenticeships/jobs etc as well as a weekly update from our Make A Difference team. |
