All students, and parents, have been emailed with the instructions of how to scan documents if this is necessary. You can also find the link to the presentation here. ISA Regional Art Competition - London West
The ISA Regional Art Competition Winners now have their work displayed in an online gallery. Claires Court received seven winners in total in the London West competition held in October and now have a chance at winning the national competition in their respective categories.
  • Hugo Allies (JB) in the '3D Art individual and 3D group gallery'
  • Phillip Wendt (JB), Adam Sanno (JB) and Raphael Seigner (SB) in the 'Drawing and Fashion Accessories' gallery
  • Bryn Davies (SB), Heidi Golding (SG) and Rafe Storr (Sixth Form) in the 'Photography, Sketchbook and Textiles' gallery.
Congratulations to all, especially our very own Rafe, who also won this category when he was in Senior Boys. Well done Rafe!

Please have a look at the virtual gallery link and look in the specific galleries to find the above students work. Well done to all the regional winners and good luck for the finals which will be held at the beginning of March.

National Apprenticeship week Monday 8 February to Friday 12 February
Students interested in apprenticeships should make sure they take advantage of all the resources available during this week. They can meet and speak to employers who will be able to give them a flavour of what is on offer on apprenticeship programmes, from companies such as Virgin Media, Rolls Royce and Barclays. There is a Q&A session with apprentices, and workshops on creating a CV and interview technique. You can find out more here.

You may also be interested in the recording of the presentation “Apprenticeships: Work, Earn, Learn" by the University of Hertfordshire. It was a fantastic event to launch National Apprenticeship Week 2021 and the event recording is available here if you’d like to re-watch or share with others.  To find out more about apprenticeship opportunities in Hertfordshire, please visit Hertfordshire Opportunities Portal for current vacancies and guidance.

Brufut Challenge update
Those hardy souls who did a marvellous job giving up their phones for 24 hours last weekend and who donated to the Bruft Challenge have done us proud. The total so far stands at £315. Thank you so much to those of you who have contributed. That is sufficient to send 1.5 pupils to school in the Gambia. Obviously we can’t send 0.5 of a pupil so we are keeping the portal open for longer to enable more of you who wish to donate the chance of to do so. We realise it may have been hard for students to be prised away from their phones during lockdown, but maybe they could donate because they didn't want to give up their phones.  As the saying goes, every little helps. Donations can be made on the parent portal under the heading “Brufut Challenge”.

Staying Connected #20
If you have chance, please do look through this week’s edition of #Staying Connected. Students receive a virtual copy every Friday and they can also be found on the website here. This is an online weekly magazine for Sixth Form to help us all feel that we “stay connected” through lockdown. It was started during the first lockdown in March last year and has been reinstated this year. This week’s edition has many articles on unis and apprenticeships, as well as fun quizzes, ideas for cooking, pages on what to read, how to be greener, and my favourite, penguin cam at Edinburgh zoo. There is something for everybody to enjoy.

We send our best wishes to all students and their families for a happy half term from the Sixth Form Team.
