Executive Head Teacher words
Dear Parents and Guardians

We have made it to half term - thank you for all of your support over the past six weeks and beyond.

If any local or national restrictions regarding Covid-19 emerge over the half term period, I will contact you to ensure you are kept up-to-date on if/how they affect your children's education at Claires Court. Here's hoping that I don't have to contact you!

In the meantime, please stay safe and enjoy your break.

Best wishes

Justin Spanswick
Executive Head Teacher

Thursday 29 October - Deadline for ordering school lunches
Please find the hot school lunch booking form for the week commencing Monday 2 November. Please complete one order for each child by 4pm Thursday 29 October. Orders received after this time will not be accepted.

Sport After Half Term
You will receive a letter about sport after half term, but in summary rugby will commence, so there will be one football and one rugby session each week and all pupils will need to bring a mouthguard to all games sessions. Saturday sport for November will change to rugby, timings and venues as follows:
  • Year 7 Maidenhead Rugby Club 9.15am-10.30am
  • Year 8 Phoenix Rugby Club 9.30am-10.45am
Provision can be made for Years 9 and 10 should there be sufficient numbers.

Titan mouthguards
As you know your son is required to wear a mouthguard while playing Rugby and Hockey at school. Many pupils are happy to use the ‘Boil and Bite’ style mouthguards available from sports shops.  But others prefer the superior protection and comfort of the custom moulded style, normally fitted by your dentist or our supplier (Titan Mouthguards) during a school visit.

Please find an e-flyer from our custom mouthguard supplier. Unlike previous years we will not be arranging a visit from Titan for obvious reasons, but instead you will be able to order a home impression kit and book a video call with one of their technicians if you need help making the impression, before sending the impression off to their laboratory.  You will then receive the custom fitted mouthguard directly to your home in the post.

Sixth Form Programme September 2021 and useful information
Pupils looking at their Further Education options can find out more about the unique opportunities provided by Claires Court Sixth Form: New campus
Our long and eagerly-awaited planning inquiry for the development of the Ridgeway site is nearly upon us, and we are calling for your help and support. The inquiry will be held online by an independent planning inspector from 18 November for eight days.

As we celebrate our diamond jubilee in our 60th year, we would dearly love to cement our plans to bring us all together at one-purpose-built, future-proof campus fit for our quality teaching and the families we care so much about. Letters of support for the plans are welcomed by the inspector and help form a good picture of all the significant benefits arising from our plans that will so positively affect a wide-range of people in our community. More information is being sent to all our families and friends, so we do hope you can help us and show your support and write to: tim.salter@planninginspectorate.gov.uk by: Wednesday 17 November 2020.
