A message from our Librarian
Claires Court Library Service now has access to Britannica School Online.  Please see link to the letter here. This is an excellent online resource for all subjects and all ages. It is designed to be a research tool for pupils to carry out research independently at home or in school. Britannica School is an online platform provided by Encyclopaedia Britannica, a worldwide leader of fact-checked content. The platform provides safe content to support homework and research. Content types include articles, images (copyright cleared), videos, primary sources, ebooks (including 19th century GCSE texts) and journals as well as many links to free, safe and vetted educational websites. Access is available via the Library Services website.

Open events
We’re holding virtual open events to give a taster of all our school divisions next Friday 25 September. Please book to join or share our event information with friends and family.

Head’s drop-in MEET
Mr Wilding will be holding an informal weekly drop-in MEET for parents every Monday morning from 9.30am to 10.00am. Please feel free to join him for a chat or to ask questions.

Headphones
Please remind your son that he needs to bring headphones for use with his Chromebook in class, and he should always have these with him readily available in all his lessons.

No access to site
Please note, there is no vehicular or pedestrian access to the school for parents, unless a pre-arranged appointment has been made, so please wait at the end of the drive and call reception so that someone can walk down to meet you. Please encourage your son to take responsibility for organising his belongings for the school day, to reduce the number of forgotten lunches qne water bottles.

Remote learning
Please note that if your son is isolating at home, we are not ‘remote teaching’ boys as we were in lockdown, because it is not possible to both teach in a classroom and to remote teach. Part two work however, will be available for him to access  and complete independently in the subjects listed on the part two timetable

B11 Presentation Evening
Please find the presentation from the parents evening last night, along with the live recording for those unable to join and the chat stream for your information. Also shared the mock examinations timetable for week commencing Monday 5 October. Year 11 parents are invited to a MEET with Mrs Rogers, Head of Sixth, on Tuesday mornings for the next four weeks (11.45am - 12.30pm) to find out more about life in the Sixth Form.

Saturday 19 September - Saturday Sports Mornings
Unfortunately we have had to cancel Saturday morning sport for Years 9 and 10 due to insufficient numbers, however this will still be going ahead for Years 7 and 8 as follows:
  • Year 7  -  Maidenhead Rugby Club  8.20am-9.25am on the 3G
  • Year 8  -  Maidenhead Rugby Club 9.25am-10.30am on the 3G
Monday 28 September - Return to full uniform on ‘non-PE’ days
Clarification - the wearing of blazers and ties at Senior Boys on ‘uniform days’, non-PE days, will resume from Monday 28 September, and after half term will be compulsory for all boys. Boys should however continue to come into school in their games kit on PE days, as changing rooms remain unavailable until further notice.

Wednesday 30 September - New Year 7, 8 and 9 Parent Presentation
Year 7 parents and new Year 8 and 9 parents are invited to a Virtual Presentation on Wednesday 30 September at 6.00pm (MEET link), covering both pastoral care and academics at Claires Court Senior Boys.

Thursday 1 October - The previously advertised event “Parent Pastoral Workshop” is now a Senior Girls new parents event only.

Year 9 PE lesson
Boys who opted to drop a creative arts subject in favour of a PE lesson were told by their form tutors on Tuesday which subject would be replaced by PE and what day this would be, and they will need to wear their sports kit on this day. This change will be reflected in boys’ timetables once initial teething problems are ironed out over the next week.

Historians of the week
Alex Reid-Hughes (Year 7) and Finlay O'Neill (Year 7) for their very impressive start to their study of History at Senior Boys.
Gio Berto (Year 11) for his excellent engagement with the new GCSE topic.

Mathematicians of the week
Casper Bose (Year 7), Harry Barraclough (Year 8) and Maz Butt (Year 11).

Scientists of the week
Jake Lee (Year 9) for his excellent Sankey diagrams in Physics.
Ethan Kloppers (Year 10) for his enthusiasm during lessons.
Jed Wright (Year 10) for his interest and enthusiasm when working with microscopes.

SPORTS FIXTURES AND RESULTS
Bookworms rise to the challenge this summerBookworms rise to the challenge this summer

There may have been a lockdown, but there certainly wasn't a 'book-down' over the summer holidays for our Senior pupils in Years 7 to 9 with the summer house reading challenges won by Kelly and St Therese.
Back with a bang in the Senior Boys Science labs

After nearly six months away from school, Senior Boys in Year 8 burst in the science laboratories, eager to get back to enjoying some practical educational experiences, and they did so with a bang.
