 | | Senior Girls Bulletin | | Mr Richards Words Autumn 1 | | Whilst we all felt like the world was turned upside down in March, this week has felt like the world has been tipped right way up again. | | From the office | A message from the Executive Head:
We’re back! And thank goodness. It has been for many of us a summer of cancelled holidays, postponed events, and uncertainty always hanging in the air. For me, it has been especially nice to see Year 7, 8 and 9 back in school. These year groups missed out on so many opportunities by not returning to school at all due to the Covid-19 restrictions that were placed on all educational institutions, it is wonderful to have them enjoying their physical school environment once again.
As I stated in previous communications to you over the summer, we have made a number of alterations to our sites for safety purposes, and I am delighted with how your children have adapted to these changes showing both resilience and intelligence in equal measure. I would like to thank you as our parent body for preparing them for school so meticulously, especially with some information only coming out to you at the last minute. However, we still remain at the mercy of the Department for Education and Public Health England and their frequent amendments to policy. Hopefully we can continue this brilliant start to the term without too many other restrictions being put on us.
At the end of next week we will be reviewing our first 10 days of the term with a view to considering when we can reinstate some of our usual practices if possible. I am aware that many of you are eagerly awaiting the reinstatement of after school activities and on site catering facilities to name but two, and we will update you with our intentions periodically.
It leaves me to wish you all a lovely weekend.

Jeans for Genes Day(s) - Wednesday 16, Thursday 17 and Friday 18 September
Next week we will be supporting Jeans for Genes Day, but whilst we are a cashless school Friday 18 September girls may wear jeans to school for a £1 donation to be handed in to their form tutor. School blouses/jumpers are still to be worn on the upper half - please no ripped/torn jeans. If your daughter has PE/Games on Friday she can wear their jeans on Thursday 17 September.
Please note the following form groups will need to wear their jeans on Wednesday to support this cause because they have sport on both days:
7A - Jeans for Genes Day Wednesday 16 September
8B - Jeans for Genes Day Wednesday 16 September
Sickness, absence and medical appointments
To report any absences or sickness please telephone the School Office on 01628 327500 (you can leave a voicemail outside of office hours and this will get picked up by a member of the admin team) or alternatively you can email in on girls@clairescourt.com - all medical appointments, notwithstanding emergencies, please email in prior to the appointment happening.
Chromebooks
Please can you remind the pupils to bring headphones to school and charge Chromebooks overnight. There will be sufficient charge in a Chromebook to last the length of a school day.
Pick up and drop off
Please can I remind you that we are asking parents to pick up and drop off outside of the school gates; the pupils are old enough now to make their way in through the pedestrian gate. Finally, when dropping off, please be respectful of our neighbours and obey local restrictions; the restrictions are there to keep us all safe, Thank you.
Headteacher and parent surgery
Mr Richards has scheduled in his calendar an online parental surgery every Tuesday morning from 9.15am - 10.15am if you would like to book in please contact Helen Phipps on hep@clairescourt.com and a time slot can be allocated and a link emailed to you to ‘meet’. Look forward to ‘meeting’ with you throughout the term.
Year 7 team building
Regrettably we had to cancel the Year 7 Team Building Day that was planned for today, Friday 11 September, as we felt we could not run it safely given the current circumstances. We will of course look at other team building opportunities for our new Year 7 girls through the year.
