Message from James Wilding, Academic Principal
Whilst every week of school is busy, this time of year Claires Court is at its most active, and with every part of our antennae ever focussed on the education, health and care of our children and staff as the Covid-19 epidemic develops, I sense “a quiet, determined, responsible leadership in many different situations and contexts” across our organisation.

My quote is from Geoff Barton, General Secretary of the Association of School and College leaders, and it is so clearly evident at Claires Court. I write more in my blog and there are regular updates on our website, but please be reassured that we are doing as much as we can humanly do to ensure the school is prepared for all the various contingencies, both current and in the future.

Important information about coronavirus (covid-19)
We are constantly evaluating the situation regarding the spread of Covid-19, and we are in regular liaison with the Department for Education (DfE), Public Health England (PHE) and the NHS to ensure we prioritise the wellbeing of our school community.

Please visit our news page for more information about our response and actions, and for links to other useful resources, including our visitors guide during the Covid-19 outbreak. We will also continue to keep you informed by email.

If you have any questions about our response to the Public Health England’s guidance, please contact Justin Spanswick, Executive Headteacher, on 01628 327717.

Parking Restrictions
Please be considerate when parking outside of school particularly at pick up and drop off times and do not ignore the parking restrictions signs. Make sure you park sensibly on the road itself and are not blocking any driveways. This is to ensure the safety of pupils, parents, staff and the general public. Thank you for your cooperation.

From our Librarians
Just a reminder that all the web links, usernames and passwords to our online library services are available on the Learning Hub Library Services page
Resources of particular interest to Sixth Form, e.g JSTOR, CREDO and the Hodder Education A Level Review magazine archive, are all listed in the Online Resources area. We also have a link to a free EPQ course from Future Learn, designed to help students prepare for their EPQ.

Staff and students can also search the Claires Court Library database which covers collections on all sites. The click-through link is also on the main Library Services website and is available here.

Results cards and Sixth Form Parents’ Evenings
Parents’ Evening for Year 13 is Tuesday 17 March and for Year 12 is Thursday 26 March. We look forward to seeing parents at the respective evenings. Results cards for all students will be posted to home addresses today, Friday 13 March.

Year 13 Btec Sport Students help out at Junior Boys
The Year 13 Btec Sports students were instrumental in helping out at the Junior Boys’ sports tournament on Monday. As part of their course they are required to referee games and the feedback from the tournament’s organisers was that they were “outstanding.” Teachers from one of the participating schools also passed on their thanks to the students and described them as “a credit to the school”. We are very proud of them all.

Charity week
Charity week in school begins next week and donations of £1 will be collected from all students. Year 13 will be taking part in a girls v boys netball match at lunchtime on Tuesday, and may be wearing some interesting outfits! Year 12 will be holding a Krispy Kreme Doughnut stall. All proceeds will go to our charities, Alexander Devine and our Gambia charity.
