Last Friday our U10 teams travelled to The Beacon for their first fixtures of the term. As The Beacon has a huge year group each of our three teams played three different matches against their nine teams. Our teams performed extremely well against this strong opposition and recorded four wins out of the nine matches.
On Tuesday and Wednesday we welcomed Chesham Prep for U9 and U11 fixtures. The U9 had several close games, while the U11 teams had a successful afternoon winning one, drawing two and losing one. Our U10 teams travel to Chesham Prep this afternoon for their fixtures.
We also wish our U9 A and B teams all the best as they compete in the St Bernard’s U9 tournament on Saturday morning.

News from the Chess Master
This week saw the beginning of our Delancey Chess tournament; the largest chess competition in the world. Our matches will be played every Monday at first break for the next seven weeks and boys will earn points as they play:
One point for a loss, two for a draw and three for a win.
Boys earning 17 points will qualify automatically for the area Megafinals, though boys can also qualify by virtue of being the strongest performer in their year.
For those not entering our tournament, or for those looking to qualify sooner, there are other qualifiers running. These can be found through the Maidenhead Junior Chess Club webpage.
The next one is here on Saturday 15 February (2 to 6pm).
