News from the Sports Master
Firstly I would like to say a huge welcome back to all parents and pupils. We as staff are all looking forward to the football season ahead and fixture dates have been emailed home. Fixture details can also be found on the school's website.
I also would like to remind all parents that Football Association rules dictate that all players must wear shin pads, and that these shin pads must be covered by socks. Therefore, please ensure that your son always has a pair of named shin pads for all Games lessons and matches.
I would also like to ensure that all pupils come to Games lessons with a tracksuit and/or thermal base layers in their sports bags. With the temperature and the wind chill at this time of year it is important that the pupils are fully prepared for the weather conditions.
We look forward to welcoming parents on the sidelines to support the school throughout this term.
News from the Chess Master
Welcome back to all chess players.
The Lent term is a particularly busy one with the first round of EPSCA coming up, but the first important notice is that the Delancey chess competition will be starting soon. Games will be played at breaktime on Mondays. The sign-up sheet is half full already and can be found on the chess noticeboard.
Tomorrow (Saturday 11 January) sees Claires Court hosting an Under 9 team competition between Maidenhead, Richmond and Sussex. A number of Claires Court boys have been invited to represent Maidenhead - an experience that should help with the development of their chess. Good luck to all those taking part.
Chess club begins next week and I hope the boys have been practising on lichess over the holidays.
Remember - you can't improve with only an hour's play a week, so keep working hard.
Here's hoping for another successful term!
