Junior Boys Annual Christmas Market - Friday 13 December
The Junior Boys PTA will be holding their annual Christmas Market on Friday 13 December in the Sports Hall at Junior Boys. This year we will be extending the event to enable parents from our Junior Girls and Nursery to attend before the school day ends. The doors will be open 12.30 to 4.30pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to pick up some lovely gifts, so please join us for a mug of mulled wine and mince pie whilst making Christmas purchases.

This winter we are supporting our local charity again by collecting clothes for the homeless in our community.  Any winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves and outerwear welcome. All items should be brought to the School office.

A successful afternoon at the Magnet Leisure Centre, Maidenhead, saw our Junior Boys and Girls compete in the Maidenhead Marlins Primary School Swimming Gala, achieving an overall second place!
News from the Sports Master
Last Saturday George Norris in Year 6 travelled to the ISA National Swimming Gala at the Olympic pool in Stratford. He was representing the region in the year 6 relay. Not only did he swim a fantastic leg, so did his team mates, and they won gold! A fantastic achievement!

During the week all teams have played their last fixtures of the term. The U9 played Chesham Prep on Tuesday and St George's on Thursday. The U10 and U11 both played Chesham Prep on Wednesday. Across all of the matches we won 3 and drew 4. To finish off a fantastic season.

Next week we will be playing House matches for U8-U11. The U8 & U9 teams will have brought home team sheets today. We will also be starting football in Games lessons over the next week and a half, so please can all Year 3-4 be sent in with shin pads.

News from the Chess Master
Deadline has now passed for our end of term tournament that will be held on Monday 9 December between 1:30 and 5pm.

We passed 28 entries and I’m looking forward to a great tournament. If anyone has submitted an entry but has not paid, please see Mrs Gill in the School Office.

In Chess club this week I was able to go through one of the most famous games in history: Paul Morphy’s Opera House game of 1858. This game demonstrates beautifully the application of basic chess principles:

Open with a central pawn
Develop your pieces towards the centre
Get castled.

It is well worth further study.

For those truly dedicated souls there is also the Morphy Rap for consideration!
