Safe Drive, Stay Alive
Year 12 & 13 went to the Wycombe Swan to see “Safe Drive, Stay Alive” on Tuesday.  It was a powerful and emotive presentation of real life road traffic accidents and their consequences, presented both in film and with real personnel from the emergency services, and those who had been affected by road traffic collisions. The campaign aims to give young people the facts about risks on the road and how they can keep themselves safe as they start to drive for the first time. It made difficult viewing but was a very powerful and relevant message for all students. More information can be found at www.safedrive.org.uk

Important Information regarding summer exams 2020
We wish to share some important information with you to avoid any possible issues next summer.  For the summer 2020 exam series, a “contingency exam day” has been arranged by the examination awarding bodies which all parents and students need to be aware of. The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) contingency day for A Level examinations has been put in place “in the event of sustained national or local disruption to examinations during the June 2020 examination series.” The date that has been set aside as the contingency day is Wednesday 24 June 2020. This means that all exam candidates must be available to sit exams from the date of their first exam until Wednesday 24 June 2020. This decision is not a school decision and does apply to all candidates in all schools. Please can all students/parents/carers make a note of the contingency exam date in the event that an awarding body needs to invoke its contingency plan.

Sixth Form IGCSE exams in January
Some of our Sixth Form students will have external examinations in January. The Maths IGCSEs will be on Tuesday 7 January and Wednesday 15 January, both at 9am. The English IGCSE will be on Tuesday 14 January at 9am. All exams will take place at the Senior Boys site and students should be there by 8.45am, with all the equipment they need for the exams in a clear pencil case. Please note that Tuesday 7 January is not a school day so students taking the IGCSE Maths exam will have to make their own way to and back from the Senior Boys site. Please can students ensure that they wear business dress and their lanyards at all times when they are on the site.

Sixth Form internal exams
Please note that the Sixth Form will have practice exams in lesson times during the week of Monday 2 December. Mock examination week will be from Monday 24 February 2020, immediately after the half-term holidays. Mock exams will be held for most subjects for both Year 12 and Year 13 and will be held in the Hall at College  Avenue. A timetable will be provided for this week and emailed to parents.

Year 12 Introduction to Careers Resources, Thursday 21 November, 6pm in the Chapel
Mrs Rogers and Mr Hope are looking forward to seeing Year 12 parents at this informal evening to learn more about the choices open to students post 18 years and to get ‘hands on’ experience of the many and varied resources now available. She will be looking at resources such as ‘INDIGO’, ‘SACU’, ‘eCLIPS’ and ‘Kudos’. This is an evening for parents only as students will be learning about this after Christmas. The letter for this will be emailed out to parents next week.
