News from the Sports Master
Last Friday all of our U10 teams travelled to Chesham Prep for a triangular fixture with Gayhurst. All pupils performed fantastically well with each team coming away with at least one win. However, it was not the results that impressed me most but the manner in which the boys played, with some superb handling rugby.
On Saturday our U11B team attended a rugby festival held at St Bernards in Slough. This festival gave our pupils an excellent opportunity. To play several games of rugby and Mr Butterfield and Mr Thompson were particularly impressed with the developments the pupils have made since the start of term. We ended up finishing 3rd overall.
In regular fixtures this week the U9 teams hosted 2 teams from Thorpe House succuring four wins out of the five matches played. The U10 teams hosted four teams from Caldicott, while the U11 teams travelled to Caldicott for triangular fixtures with Davenies. The U11 teams returned with three wins and a draw. On Tuesday 8th October, a team of boys and girls from years 4, 5 and 6 competed at the ISA Junior Swimming Qualifier (London West Region) in Cobham.
Against some very tough competition, at a large and quite overwhelming event, our swimmers did us proud with a fantastic performance. Diving off blocks and swimming a 50 metre race is no mean feat, especially for those who have never done it before, but our boys and girls did not let this deter them. All of our swimmers gave it their all and we could not have been prouder of their can-do attitude and support of their teammates. Claires Court finished an impressive 8th overall out of 18 schools. We now await news of the swimmers who have made it through to the next round - the Regional Qualifiers in Aldershot in November.
