From the office | That new campus...
As you may have seen from local social media, our plans for a new campus are not going to be determined by the Council until after the local elections in May. When we submitted our applications in December 2017 little did we realise then that we would still be waiting for a planning decision in 2019. Whilst this is enormously disappointing and frustrating, we have been working closely with statutory authorities and the Council over the past 15 months and have made significant progress. We are delighted to inform you that the plans at Cannon Lane have received the green light from:
- Environment Agency
- Highways England
- Natural England
- Sport England
Soon it will be up to a panel of newly-elected councillors to decide our future, so until then, we thank everyone (and there have been over 2,000 of you) for taking the time so far to support us; your efforts to show that parents and local people support our proposals have had a very positive impact. Hopefully in the near future we will be informing you of the committee date and once again you will join us in force to show the strength of support for the best possible future for Claires Court.

Opening up the World of Investment Management
Charlotte Smith, Programme and Team Co-ordinator from Investment 2020, came to speak to the Sixth Form this week. She spoke about all the different sectors available in the financial services sector, from Investments, Banking, Accounting and Insurance to Financial Planning. There is a great breadth of jobs available and only 20% of jobs are based around the actual Investment Management – the remaining 80% are in Finance, Accounting, HR, PR, Marketing and Media.
There are lots of ways to get into this sector. There are School leaver schemes, Apprenticeships, Internships and Graduate Training schemes available, and 75% of trainees go on to be offered a permanent position. If any student is interested in summer work experience, please contact the individual companies directly – some of those under the Investment 20/20 umbrella are Invesco, BNP, JP Morgan, M&G, Schroders etc. For more information, visit https://investment2020.org.uk/.
