News from the Sports Master
This week our U9s got the seasons underway with fixtures against Thorpe House. Considering these matches took place in near blizzard conditions, all the boys performed extremely well. The U9A and U9B teams both started strongly playing Thorpe House’s U9A team. Our U9A team got their first win of the season and our U9B team played extremely well to draw against the A side. Our U9C and D teams both played well but came off second best against Thorpe House’s U9B team in the challenging conditions.
The snow put paid to school on Wednesday and also the U11s first games of the season. I hope the weather improves for them when they take on Chesham Prep next Wednesday. The U10s were due to play today, but at the time of writing it is looking unlikely that the grounds will have recovered in time for the matches to take place.
News from the Chess Master
Despite the adverse weather, the first round of the Delancey Chess Challenge took place this week. The matches are being played on Wednesdays at first break in the dining room.
If your son has forgotten to sign up and would still like to play in the Delancey tournament Mr Dennis will be running a number of qualifying tournaments over the coming months.
Remember - boys should be practising on Lichess to improve their playing skills!
