‘Water, water everywhere...’ is one line of a famous poem from “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner,” by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. However, unlike their ship, our Junior Boys vessel is not becalmed and it is surrounded, not by...

Rabbits
This week’s Rabbit winners are Josh Spanswick and Alvin Paul. Josh showed his kindness and shared his knowledge explaining to the boys on the bus about the recent full moon and Alvin helped his fellow classmates when getting changed for sport. Thank you and well done boys.

This year, you only need to let us know if your child
  • will not be eating Christmas lunch and is bringing a packed lunch
  • has dietary needs we need to consider.
If this is the case, please complete this online form by Friday 30 November

Cold Weather
As the weather is turning cold, please ensure your son has his school coat, tracksuit and for Years 2 to 6 a baselayer in school to keep him warm during this cold weather season. Please ensure everything is clearly named.

Rehydration
Can we please encourage all boys to have a reusable water bottle, preferably with a sports style top that prevents accidents on desks.  We are very happy to allow boys to drink sensibly in class, as anecdotal reports indicate that attention spans, concentration and other qualities are noticeably improved by frequent intakes of small amounts of water.

End of Day Parking Collection
We are aware that our car parks can get very congested at the end of the day, particularly when we have matches or additional activities taking place on our site. The queues on the drive and car parks do clear quite quickly, so parents are kindly asked to be patient and not to drive onto any of our fields, particularly in this bad weather.

As Winter Approaches
As the weather gets colder, may we take this chance to remind our parents of the School’s Emergency Closure Guidance in case we need to close the School due to adverse weather conditions.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: EMAIL HACKING AND ATTEMPTED FRAUD
Please read this notice from Lloyds Bank regarding the targeting parents of children attending independent schools in an email fraud campaign.  We would like to reassure parents that whilst we are confident in our systems security, new threats and methods are always being exploited by hackers. We continue to bank with NatWest and have not changed, nor do we intend to change our banking details in the coming future. We will also never send out new payment instructions via email. Therefore, if you receive any suspicious emails appearing to be from the School, please forward them onto your School office, for further investigation.

Diwali Celebrations

Before half term, Year 1 boys in class G read the story of Rama and Sita and learnt about why people all over the world celebrate Diwali. The boys (and their teachers) were enraptured with the story and its moral of how love defeats evil. Each...

News from the Sports Master
Before many of us had got out of bed on Monday morning the Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 swimmers were setting off to the ISA Regional Swimming gala. This was a very successful morning with all of our pupils returning with silverware. Our pupils competed in individual strokes and a freestyle relay. For many of the boys this was either the first time they had swam in a 50M pool or the only time they do this, which can make it a daunting task. The boys acquitted themselves well, with strong performances in the relays, Year 4 and Year 5 teams claiming Silver and the Year 6 team claiming a Bronze. Special mention must be made of Callum Potter and Spike Stalham who received a Silver and Bronze Medal respectively.

On Tuesday the U9 teams hosted Oratory Prep School and I had the pleasure of refereeing the U9A team. I was hugely impressed with the progress they have made since the start of the term and the manner in which they played the game. Both teams were very evenly matched and the game resulted in a draw. The U9B had a tough afternoon losing but still managed to run in five of their own tries. The U9C gained a fantastic win while the U9D match was a draw.  It was honours even between these two schools on this afternoon.

On Wednesday the U11 teams played Davenies. The U11A&B teams played at home both securing fantastic wins with some great team performances. For both teams it was the third time they had met this season. While the U11A team have won all the encounters, the U11B team had drawn one and lost won so it felt extremely good to achieve a win this time round. The U11C&D teams played away with the U11C playing well but coming second and the U11D securing an excellent win.

This Friday will see our U10 teams take on St John’s Northwood at home.

News from the Chess Master
Well done to Moksha Suriarachchi for picking up some more silverware over the weekend when he competed in GM Nicholas Pert's tournament at Wellington College. Kanishka, already qualified for London, was there too and the brothers were able to get a photograph with the Grand Master.

All the very best of luck to Josh Sharma for this weekend as he is taking part in the British Rapidplay Chess Championship in Yorkshire.
