IMPORTANT NOTICE: EMAIL HACKING AND ATTEMPTED FRAUD
Please read this notice from Lloyds Bank regarding the targeting parents of children attending independent schools in an email fraud campaign.  We would like to reassure parents that whilst we are confident in our systems security, new threats and methods are always being exploited by hackers. Tour report by Brad Pennington, Junior Boys PE teacher:
Diwali Celebrations

Before half term, Year 1 boys in class G read the story of Rama and Sita and learnt about why people all over the world celebrate Diwali. The boys (and their teachers) were enraptured with the story and its moral of how love defeats evil. Each...

News from the Sports Master
Last Thursday 24 of our Year 6 boys set off for on rugby tour to Devon and Cornwall. They were joined by 16 pupils from the Girls school who were playing hockey and netball. You can get full details from Mr Pennington’s Tour Report. I would like to add,  that all of our boys were excellent sporting ambassadors for the school. The boys were fantastic on and off the pitch and there was some fantastic rugby played, with us winning six out of eight matches played over the course of the weekend.

While our Year 6 boys were on tour our U10 teams were hosting Thorpe House on Friday. There were some strong performances with some very high scoring games. We gained two good wins and a draw and our U10E team managed to run in 15 tries.

On Wednesday all the U11 teams travelled to Moulsford for a triangular fixture with Chandlings, while our U10 teams hosted both Moulsford and Chandlings at home. It was a hugely successful afternoon where we won eight matches, lost eight matches and drew one, with a total of 53 tries scored across all of our U10 and U11 teams.

The U9 team also travelled to Moulsford on Thursday for a triangular fixture, but this time with Caldicott. Again this was a fantastic afternoon of rugby where we won three, lost three and drew two, with 27 tries scored.

As Winter starts to close in, this week sees the end of our outside after school activity programme due to the diminishing light. Year 5 Rugby on a Monday and Year 6 Rugby on a Tuesday will still go ahead but will now take place in the Sports Hall, so please ensure that your son has his trainers packed for these after school sessions.  Year 4 Rugby on a Wednesday and Year 3 Rugby and Cross Country on a Thursday unfortunately will have to end. In their place the boys will be looked after in an additional study session. This will give the boys the chance to focus on sports related issues, for example, rugby tactics/moves for the next game as well as catch up with their homework.

News from the Chess Master
What an excellent Saturday of chess at Claires Court!

The 18th annual Claires Court PTA Chess Festival was a great success with 60 participants vying for trophies and qualification places in the London Nationals.

The competition was extremely fierce and the tournament had one of the strongest fields I have seen with at least seven potential England players taking part.

Well done to all those Claires Court boys who entered. We were the best represented school at the tournament. Special congratulations to Tom Avezbakiev and Kanishka Suriarachchi who finished second and third place respectively in the Under 8 Section, and to Teo Rybak, who was back at Claires Court for the first time since his move to Reading School, for coming second in the Under 12s.

Thanks go to Mr Dennis and the Claires Court PTA for all their work in making the day so successful.
