Mr Richards' Words Autumn 6 |
| CCJB pupils continuously bring me moments of joy and wonder. Henry in Year 2 bounded up to me on Monday at break time and bursting with pride blurted out, ‘Team - Together Everyone Achieves More.’ He then proceeded with a beaming smile... | |

IMPORTANT NOTICE
If you have our old phone numbers (starting 01628 411...) in your phone please delete them!
In May last year the School changed its phone numbers. It appears that recently one of our numbers has been re-allocated. We have received a complaint from the new holder that they receive calls from ‘parents’ on a daily basis from 6am. As far as we are aware our old numbers are no longer listed anywhere, however should you be aware of any please inform marketing@clairescourt.com. Thank you

News from the Sports Master
Thankfully we got some rain last weekend that just softened up the pitches enough to allow us to play contact rugby this week.
The U9 teams hosted Thorpe House and a new team to our fixture calendar, Ashfold. Despite some heavy traffic causing a late kick off, the afternoon proved to be very successful for our U9 teams with some attacking rugby on show from all sides.
On Wednesday the U10 teams hosted Caldicott. The best performance came from the U10B team who achieved an excellent result against this tough opposition.
Also on Wednesday the U11 travelled to Caldicott for a triangular fixture with Davenies. This proved a tough afternoon with some bumps and bruises suffered. However, the boys showed real resilience and learnt a lot from the afternoon.
The Year 3 boys will be bringing home a letter next week asking them to ensure they have a gum shield ready for their first lessons back after half term. The aim is to start introducing the Year 3 boys to tackling to prepare them for competitive rugby in Year 4.
News from the Chess Master
The FIDE World Championship match-up between the reigning World Champion, Magnus Carlsen, and the challenger, Fabiano Caruana will begin on November 9 and the venue chosen is The College in Holborn, London. Those not wanting to part with £100 to attend can still follow the games online through fide.com or many of the other chess sites available. However, overshadowing this is The 18th Claires Court PTA Chess Festival which starts (and finishes) on Saturday 10 November 2018. Entry forms are available from the Chess noticeboard or by clicking on this link.
Lichess
I have been encouraging boys to work on their endgames this week lichess. We would not try driving by only using the accelerator - we must be able to stop! Boys should be practising checkmating against a lone king. So many games end in a draw simply because the player who is winning does not know how to get across the finishing line!
