Post 18 Information Evening Tuesday 12 June
It was lovely to welcome so many parents to our Higher Education and Alternatives evening on Tuesday. The presentations from Helen Cole and Tom Gidlow have been emailed out to all parents. If you have not received them, please contact Kim Hall on kyh@clairescourt.net. They are full of information and links and we do hope you find them useful. Students have received their Higher Education Guide 2018 booklet this week which includes important information for applying to universities. Please can we remind students about the importance of obtaining work experience that is relevant for the courses you may wish to study at university. A part time job in a supermarket may give you lots of important skills, but will it be enough to impress an admissions officer to take you on a Biology course? Courses are competitive and students will need something which makes them stand out from the crowd.
Year 12 Internal School Exams
Where students are studying a course which does not feature an external AS exam this summer, students will instead be taking internal exams. Exams for the following subjects will be taken over the next two weeks – History, Geography, D&T, Drama and PE. Exams will be held on the afternoons of Wednesday 20 June, Friday 22 June and Wednesday 27 June. These exams are just as important and serious as the external AS exams for the students, and will be used to help predict grades and show competence and confidence for further study in Year 13. All students are aware of their exam dates. If you would like a copy of the internal exam timetable, please email Mrs Hall on kyh@clairescourt.net. |
