|Education Sunday Invitation|
The church hold an Education Sunday on the second Sunday of September. This year St. Luke’s, along with All Saints, Boyne Hill and the Church of the Good Shepherd, Cox Green, with whom we share evening services, has put together a simple service to celebrate education and to pray for the work of all the schools in our parishes.
We would like to invite any parents, who wish to, to join us for this short service at 6pm on Sunday 9 September, here at St. Luke’s. There will be light refreshments after the service. You are welcome to rsvp to: firstname.lastname@example.org or just come along.

Welcome back, Year 12!
It has been quiet around the Sixth Form for the past few weeks, with just a few Year 12s in school. Subject teachers are excited to be starting this new phase with them as they begin their Year 13 studies, and we know that the students have come back to school enthused. Please can we ask you to check that students remember their lanyards, dress appropriately for school, and are in school for 8.45am for registration, and to attend tutor times, their lessons and study periods.
Higher Education & Alternatives – Tuesday 12 June
We are looking forward to seeing parents on Tuesday 12 June at the Higher Education Evening. Students are also welcome to attend this evening. There will be two presentations, one beginning at 6pm which will be given by Helen Cole which is on the Alternatives to Higher Education, and the second one at 7pm which will be the introduction to Higher Education. If you haven’t already, please can you let us know which session you will attend, or if you would like to attend both sessions. Please email email@example.com.
Visiting Speakers – Monday 11 June
On Monday, we are very fortunate to have two very different visiting speakers coming to speak to Year 12. Ex-Claires Court Student, Mia Axtell, will be speaking to students about Computer Science degrees at university. All current IT students will attend the presentation, and it will also be most helpful for Maths and Business students. We are also pleased to welcome Dafydd Jones from Elite Future Sports who will be speaking to all our PE and BTEC Sport students.
Silver Duke of Edinburgh Expedition
Katie Garthside, Elliot Merry, Piers Jonckers, Alex Raeburn-James and Ollie Yate, recently completed their Silver expedition in the New Forest. Their expedition through Brockenhurst to Lymington was over 40km and took them 3 days and 2 nights. They had great fun, pitching the tent and lived off such delicacies as instant noodles, croissants, brioche, pittas and hummus and soup. They said how much they enjoyed the challenge aspect of the expedition, but also how peaceful it was, just to be able to walk without the distractions of any technology. The students are continuing with the remaining components of their Silver Award, and are inspired to go on to Gold.
