University Open Days
Year 12 students should be thinking about booking their university open days in the Summer term. There is a great website, www.opendays.com, which is a directory of all the open days which makes it easier to plan. Many universities’ open days are held at the weekend but should you need to attend in term time and will be away from school, please can parents let the Sixth Form Office know in good time.
Work Experience
Year 12 students should also be thinking about planning to do some relevant work experience during the summer holidays and should be looking for places now. Employers are always looking to recruit people who already have work experience. Half the employers on a survey of major graduate recruiters said that students with no work experience have "little or no chance" of receiving a job offer. Gaining work experience during the summer this year could prove to be very valuable to you in the future.

AASE Barcelona Trip for Harrison
Harrison from Year 12 attended the AASE Barcelona trip recently, where he got to train with lots of different players and coaches, including Franciso Roig, a coach of Rafa Nadal’s, to help improve his all-round tennis skills. The students were taken on cultural visits around Barcelona and also got the opportunity to train young Spanish children while they were out there. Harrison personally coached a group of 8 and 9 year olds, one of whom was a young boy originally from Sierra Leone, and Harrison was so successful as a coach that he was named Best Coach on the trip. Well done, Harrison.
